Step 2 - Get Pre-Approved for Your Home Loan

The second step in buying a home is getting pre-approved for financing. There is really no point in looking through houses if you cant get the money to buy one. The process of getting pre-approved is pretty easy:

Find A Bank Or Lender That You Trust

It’s important to get pre-approved with a lender because we want to make sure you can get a loan for the house you want to buy. Sellers will often want to see a pre-approval letter from a reputable lender saying you’re pre-approved.

When you give your information to the lender, they will pull your credit. This is good to do early because we want to make sure your credit report is accurate and free from errors or fraudulent entries.

One thing to note is that the lender whom initially pre-approves you doesn't have to be the lender you go with in the end. It's good to start a relationship with your lender right away, but it's not the end of the world if you realize your pre-approval bank is a pain to deal with and want to switch.

For your final loan lender, it is really important to work with a reputable local company because they play such a vital role in making your transaction go smoothly. We have several lenders that we work with and can recommend one if needed.

Everyone’s situation is different so it is best to talk with the lender to see which loan they would recommend that fits your situation. There is so much involved in the purchase of a house and it is much better to have someone here locally handling the transaction.
